the good, the bad & the Crosley

Well - success~! The Crosley sale went as smooth as one could hope - full price, thank you very much. I actually feel good about this transaction because the buyer is passionate about restoration and thrilled to bring new life to my father's radio.  I wish I could've been more responsible for finding the RIGHT buyer - it made this transaction actually rewarding and not painful. Wow. This may be a new way to deal - literally.

Here's our list so far:

Eames Desk

 Bianchi 8 speed

turn of 21st Century Singer

1930's Crosley Model 158

We also took up the offer from a coin shop to sell a couple 18th century coins that were only worth their weight in silver and a bouillon piece equal to a Troy ounce of silver.

More thoughts

So, in the middle of the night my phone "rings" and I spring out of bed and grumble, "I bet it's Sonitrol Alarm Service" - believing it to be 2:45a.m. But no, it was time to get out of bed - it was my alarm. Time for work. At least it was a Friday morning~!

So, Friday..... an entire week and we've yet to sell something. We have the Crosley Radio on the wings with a buyer nearing our reach - he's sending a proxy to view & buy. Hoping it's that simple. Hey, that's my magic word!

I've learned that one of my zillion cords might be worth about $10.00.  It's one of the early iPod generation cords, it's firewire on one end. It's this knowledge that makes selling stuff very difficult. I now want $10.00 for a cord that I'd probably be lucky to fetch .25c for.

spreading the love

OK, so here it is my first blog. And where to start?! A blank white piece of computer - AHHH.

OK, let me start by saying it's Spring, and we have done some serious spring cleaning: we have thrown out 100's of greeting cards. Have condensed our ticket stubs (concerts, musicals, theme parks....) to a zip-lock baggy. We sold a bike (that one hurt). And ____. But the best part has been sharing our ticket stubs, letters, greeting cards to those that were with us or sent it - the response has been so dang heartwarming~! Makes the stashing worth it - AND NOW YOU, our dear friends, are the safe keeper of these treasures of memory.

As we purge, I find it amusing that it aligns with the timing of the new Pope, who I understand to be a man of simplicity. Simplicity may become a bit of a motto this year - I like it.
